This book has been instrumental in changing my belief patterns about myself in relation to my eating habits. Even though I am still an emotional eater and will always be, I can now recognise and change those emotions that are trying to control my body without inflicting to much pain on my body. I will always be refering back to this book for alot more years, as there are still issues that I am finding. The book is broken up into sections that allow you to work slowly or quickly at realising the pattern and releasing and changing the pattern so that it no longer controls your life. A wonderful read for all women who feel or know that they are overweight and don't know why they eat all the time.
An absolutely brilliant book by Doreen Virtue. I've battled with my weight for years and I have found many underlying reasons. There were many ar ah moments. Doreen Virtues experience in this field is extensive and her understanding and methods are clearly explained. It was hard to read in places as I did go through some "stuff" as I was reading. Her advice is spot on. When it gets tough just keep on reading. A brilliant book for those who really want to understand their relationship with food.
This is not a diet book. There are no daily food planners, no calorie counted recipes. Diets don't work. Ask any over weight person, they'll tell you about all the diets they've tried, cabbage soup, atkins etc...
If you are very over weight or just have issues with food; over eating, comfort eating etc this book can help. Also this book has no mention of angels etc.
I had no idea that doreen virtue worked as phycho-therapist specalizing in eating disorders. The book shares the stories of many of her clients so you're bound to identify with their stories. If you've had a hard life or 'easy' life makes no difference this book can help everyone.
This book clearly shows the connection between our destructive habits and destructive life experiences we have had. It even tells the connection between what types of food we might eat and what type of abuse we have experienced, thus what type of negative self talk we have. Do you crave ice cream? Or chocolate, or how about cruncy peanut butter? There is helpful information in this book to get you to let go of these habits. This book helped me.
unfortunatly i did not find this book very helpful. only a couple of sections were any good to me. Definitley more for someone who has been sexually abused or has had a very abussive childhood.
