"Little House on the Prairie" is the second book in the "Little House" series.
This is an excellent series and I recommend that you read the whole series in order and then read on with the books on Laura's daughter Rose's life by Roger Lea MacBride.
The stories are full of valuable moral lessons which need no explanation.
In this book the family leave the "overcrowded" big woods in search of a home on the open prairie. They get to meet some interesting characters and some native Americans too.
My children were apalled that Laura had to give her treasures to the baby just because Mary did... The books are written so well that you really can feel strongly about such small incidents.
This really is a great book.
