I was very disappointed by this book.There was no hits or tips. She babbled on for several pages about clothes worn in film-what that has to do with i have no idea, through-out the book fashion icons gave quotes about themselves and what THEY liked-i don't want to know about YOU i want help and advise about ME. If you look like a walking skeleton then by all means buy this book, but if you are like a normal human being and have a little bit more "meat" on your bones then avoid this book. Tim Gunn book was also a waste-less then Nina's (this book), but still a waste.

I fell in love with Nina Garcia as a judge on Project Runway, and knew I had to pick this little gem up as soon as I heard she'd released her own style guide.
Garcia has worked in the fashion industry for over fifteen years, and currently reigning as fashion director at Elle magazine, she decided to share all the knowledge and expertise she’s gathered during that time, with the aim of helping us, "awaken the fashion editor inside you and help you decide what image you want to convey to the world”.
Cool, right?
I was sceptical given just how many of these kinds of books are about at the moment, but in Garcia's book nothing is overlooked. From the top films one can pick up style inspiration to tips on how to combine colours and textures, she emphasises the importance of being your own muse rather than a fashion victim, and includes great quotes from style icons such as Quotes from icons such as Sophia Loren, Coco Chanel and Katherine Hepburn which are sprinkled throughout for extra inspiration.
Loved it. The Black Book of Style makes for a brilliant gift either for yourself or anyone you know - whether they're fashionistas or hopefuls in search of honing their sense of style.
