For Bible students, here is an alternative scholarly perspective on the Hebrew Bible. It is not reading the OT in light of the NT, but rather showing how the thought of the NT came out of the OT. It is written for lay people, though, so it is easy to read, but also has no footnotes, but while different from other writings on the same subject, it is easy to find the scholarship in journals and commentaries. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!
