Tradition quilts are newly interpreted with a modern twist in this beautiful book. It features an accessible format with materials list and illustrated instructions, accompanied by a sumptuous photograph of the finished product. The 11th in the series of Kaffe Fassett's highly successful patchwork and quilting books from Rowan is photographed in romantic Portmeirion, the Welsh village well-known for Clough-Ellis' dramatic Italianate architecture and pastel painted walls, which are the stunning backdrop for the 20 new quilt designs from Kaffe and his chosen designers. Rowan are unique in producing fabulous fabrics and patchwork and quilting books. This book is not about tricky piecing but the joyous use of unexpected color stories. It works rather like a cookery book: a sumptuous photograph of the finished project plus an ingredients list and written instructions illustrated with colored diagrams, plus a 'flat shot' photo and all the templates.

Quilters have been waiting excitedly for the release of this latest of Kaffe Fassett's series of quilting books, and it was well worth the wait! Kaffe has featured other world renowned quilters with their designs and personal stories, and the pictured quilts range from simple and traditional designs to more flamboyant and intricate. All quilts are set against the unique architecture of Portmeirion in Wales, with its teal coloured iron work and Mediterranean style houses. The wonderful scenery of Portmeirion and the gorgeous colours and designs of Kaffe Fassett's fabrics combine to create breathtaking and inspiring illustrations. The book also contains full instructions for making the quilts, and fascinating information about the settings and the quilters involved.
Once again Kaffe Fassett has not disappointed quilters with his inspirational designs. The photography and presentation of this book make it a 'delicious' read. Including a design and profile of well known Australian quilter Kim McClean was inspirational. For anyone who has ever had the privilege of attending one of Kim's quilting classes, it is great to see her also being admired by this very innovative designer.
