I am loving this book! An easy read, I saw the movie first and the book is filling the gaps! I have a busy family life and hardly get to read novels anymore so I like reading this entertaining book about food, life, love, new york, blogging! A great read!

This is a great read for foodies but also people who like a true story. The movie was good but there is a lot missing. Julie Powell is really funny, she is one of us - working all hours, trying to hold together family life and finding a point to it all. She writes with honesty and humour, particularly about her crazy friends and the cooking failures she has along the way. The episode with the crayfish is great! Recommended!!!

An enjoyable, engaging read, full of food and self-indulgence. Whilst Julie is full of self pity and memories she is also entertaining and real. The descriptive language paints pictures in the mind, and it is easy to feel the pain of Julie's long suffering husband. Julia is only in the background, as opposed to the movie, which I had seen first. The addictive nature of blogging and how it is linked to one's self image is an important theme of the novel. I loved it and read it rather quickly, savouring every delicious page.
