Reviews
"Juan Rulfo's photographs, collected in this book, would at first glance seem to attest - despite the many deserts, stony ground, and bare walls portrayed - to a marvelous liquid transparency, as if they were images of water. It's as if Rulfo had risen up from the tombs of Comola to discover the luminosity of shadows. But this pure beauty of light and image captured by Rulfo the photographer must not invite us to a careless repose. With Rulfo one must always be alert, and ask, Why such calm, such beauty, such light? We must question the shadows of that light, and the restlessness behind such serenity." - Carlos Fuentes, from his essay
