Belle de Jour is the nom de plume of a high-class call girl working in London. This is her story. From the summer of 2003 to the autumn of 2004 Belle charted her day-to-day adventures on and off the field in a frank, funny and award-winning web diary. Now, in her Intimate Adventures, Belle elaborates on those diary entries, revealing (among other things) how she became a working girl, what it feels like to do it for money, and where to buy the best knickers for the job. From debating the literary merits of Martin Amis with naked clients to smuggling whips into luxury hotels, this is a no-holds barred account of the high-class sex-trade, and an insight into the secret life of an extraordinary woman.

This was somewhat interesting, but not at all what I expected. I expected it to be smart, funny and witty (not sure why) but it was actually quite a "matter of fact" account of this woman's working life. The author writes in a very unemotional, almost detached manner so it's difficult to feel anything. There is also no insight into what has led to her lifestyle and no discussion of what she expects from her future (some self anaylsis would have made this a deeper and more interesting book). I have found other biographies of a similarl ilk e.g., "Sugar Babe" much more enthralling that this one

Very interesting and an excellent book that will truly entertain you. The infamous UK TV series Secret Diary of a Call Girl is based on this book. It reveals the intimate details of a real life prostitute named Belle de Jour. She is what you consider a high class call girl who only take on men who pays big dough for her services. It is very detailed, graphically as well. It deeply explores her feelings, thoughts and also morales as she tries to justify that it's just like any other job. Great pace and flow, a must read!
