I'm a big fan of Donna Hay - she is very diverse in terms of style and influences - but this is why I have cooked maybe 5-10% of the dishes in her other books. There are too many different dishes with too many ingredients that take too much effort. This book is very different - most of the recipes are accessible and easy to follow.
It is set out along the lines of a dinner party plan. Then you opt for a weeknight, saturday night, sunday lunch, brunch, BBQ, and special occassion menu. Within these categories, there are Italian, Asian, Greek - inspired menus, as well as last-minute, vegetarian,summer, winter, autumn, classic, indulgent and bistro options. The recipes are simpler and pared back, with back up suggestions for hard-to-find ingredients. There are style tips and serving suggestions.
The photography is magnificent - classic Donna Hay. The book goes well with 'Instant Cook', which is similarly laid out.

lovely presentation of food photographed in this book, much better than the earlier recipe books published. deliciously adapted recipes that my grandmother used to make while she was still alive back in the golden days. this recipe book captures home cooking and comfort food at its best but of course with donna hay everything has a slightly modern twist whether it is the method or changes in ingredients or equipment used to totally transform food into something totally wonderful.
