I found this book totally amazing. I was previously having major communcation problem with my children as they began to grow older and this dealt with a lot of my issues. I found it a great help and armed with the inormation I gained from this book, we were able to work through our problems together and both my children and i are better for it!

This book is saving my sanity. Seriously. My husband died recently and I was going insane trying to get my 5 year old and 7 year old to not only talk about their feelings, but getting them to actually DO the stuff I asked them to do without first having to yell at them. Not only are they more calm but *I* am more calm. So simple to do, yet so amazing.

This book is full of very practical strategies to use with children from preschool to highschool ages to facilitate better communication and reduce negative behaviour patterns and attitudes in both parents and their kids. It is written in conversational language, and has summaries at the end of chapters and cartoons illustrating the main points which make it easy to read and remember. It is a great resource for parents - even if you think you are doing ok with your kids, you can make things can be even better!

We live in a society so full of stress, anxiety and frustration, often we are all too busy just to listen... to REALLY listen... to our friends, partners and especially our children! It is soooo important for our children to know they have someone with whom they can talk to and know they have been listened to and understood. There is nothing more important than your child knowing they can come to you... otherwise - who else, or what else, will they turn to instead??? Achievable techneques are given in this easily read and understood book. A must have for all!

This book is fabulous. It is a very easy read and has lots of helpful words and situations as well as explaining how talking to kids impacts them. When using these strategies it has opened up the communication channels once again with my 7 year old.
