This is a an excellent book. I enjoyed reading every minute of it.
This book is full of mystery, excitement, and hard labour.
I would recommend this book for older children to teens but I think adults will enjoy reading this book as well.
After reading this book its always great to see the movie that follows so you can see the pictures visually.

this is a real must read for kids i reckon. its both interesting and unique, and a real page turner. you can never quite predict whats going to happen in this off the wall action book, which tells of a poor boy called stanley yelnats, who is really unlucky with everything he does in life. then he goes to a camp and his whole life changes!

I first thought this book was based on a true story, but I don't think it is, it's a very interesting book for adults and children a like and just has a certain something to it that sets it apart from other books that look boring, looks like a substandard generic looking book that fly by past your eyes in the library but you are in for a surprise.
I don't know if it's the story line, or the author's technique or both but this is one book I could never really get sick of.

At Camp Greenlake Stanley is told to dig holes for 18 months. Stanley runs away after his friend Zero. Stanley and Zero find each other and climb this mountain, the rest is for you to read. Stanley Yelnats is possibly the unluckiest boy in the world. 'Holes' is his story, unravelling the mystery behind his family curse, and detailing the events at the correctional camp he finds himself thrown into. The plot is filled with twists and turns, and comes to an immensely satisfying conclusion.
Excellent book for 8 years and up.

great novel, with a twist at the end. I would recommend this to boys and girls aged from 10 up to 14 years. It was also recently made into a movie reinforcing the popularity of this novel. Younger readers will love this novel and will enjoy following the story of Stanley Yelnats and no-one could possibly guess the suprise ending.
