A well known classic, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has a interesting and sometimes random style of humour that only Douglas Adams could do. Based around the destruction of Earth the book tells the story about an earthling survivor named Arthur Dent and his adventures through space. Although this book's style of humour may not appeal to everyone it definitely appealed to me and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Wonderfully funny and entertaining book (although i think it does take a certain type of humour within the reader to appreciate it). There's not that much story, its more about the funny moments (especially the hitchhiker guide entries), and there really are some laugh out loud parts, as well as some that will make you think.

An awesome book filled with laughs and tongue in cheek humour. If you liked the movie, you will love the book! There really is no comparison. The book is far better. The footnotes are a must read while going through this book. If not, you will miss most of the laughs. The whale is my favourite bit, and my favourite quote "DON't PANIC!".

I think there has been quite a bit of fanfare around this book, especially when the movie was released last year. I will admit, I wasn't particularly impressed with the film and and I didn't actually pay too much attention while watching it. I still wanted to read the book as film adaptations don't always turn out better. I did have a better experience with the book, I certainly got a few chuckles out of it, but I don't think it was side-splitting funny. I'm glad I had the chance to read it, but to me, it was just so-so. Maybe it was hyped up too much for me!
