The excesses of a rock and roll star are very well known to most who follow bands. This story is not entirely original, however the way it's written is. Nikki Sixx takes his diary and splices it with commentary provided by everyone from his mother and sister, to his ex-girlfriend, to his manager, to the bands security guy! It's remarkable the different takes you get in this very candid year in the life.
I recommend it. It sucks you in to a world you can only imagine being a part of...

Not your conventional autobiography. Taken from a years worth of diaries Nikki Sixx wrote back in 1987. Due to this format some may think it is harder to read but it is quite the opposite. I found this book hard to put down. Reading every diary entry gave such an in depth look into the world of Rock n Roll and a world I didn’t know was this crazy and the feelings Nikki had during the peak of his career and drug/alcohol addiction. Most diary entries are followed by a commentary written by a Motley band member or someone closely related to Nikki.
Highly recommend this book. I am not a fan of Motley’s music at all but that did not phase me.
A well worth read

I could not put it down. I was told it was a raw and gripping look into his world, but i had no idea just how gripping it was going to be. A real eye opener and not glossed over or softened down. A truly amazing real life account of what was a hard time for him.

Loved it, but questioned the validity of some of the diary entries.
Some seemed to have been written especially for the book or revised considerably. The interviews are what makes it a great read though. 'The Dirt' is great as well.
I was at the Edmonton show that is mentioned in the book and it was a bit sureal to get a backstage account of what occured that night. I think I want a refund for my ticket. ;)

The biog of Nikki Sixx and the pits of his life and drug addiction. This is truly a great account of the Bassist's life in the drugs and height of his fame at the same time.
Featuring band members, ex-managers and ex-lovers as well as many other people, this is a great read!
