Borrowed this book from the local library and my son absolutely loves it, so I bought a copy from here. However, the 2005 hard book edition doesn't have the pages saying 'hello Jack, hello jake and Bye-bye Jack/jake' and these 4 pages were his favourite in the whole book. So after receiving the book I started to read it to my son and was very disappointed when I realised these pages weren't in the book-now I have to buy another copy of an earlier edition and that's more expensive. I think in the information it should be said that this edition has been changed from the original and that these 4 pages have been taken out.

I loved this book when I was young so was eager to find it for my baby son. The only disappointing thing was that it was a small board book and not the hardback version I thought I was buying

This is not the large book version I had bought previously for a great nephew. It was an instant success then and so has this board book version. I purchased it for an Aboriginal boy who stays weekends with me and he has been struggling just to learn the alphabet. Enter "Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb" and Dr Seuss has captured him immediately. After just two weekends the delightful six year old can point to the words as we read, indeed he wants to take over the reading but there is a degree of guesswork. My biggest thrill is going shopping with my young man and he bounces along singing "Dum ditty dum ditty dum dum dum".

That is the secret of Dr Seuss - it rhymes and it's fun. Clearly the beginnings of a love affair with books and I have since acquired another dozen or so Dr Seuss including the alphabet flip cards. Trips in the car are now entirely devoted to the alphabet and it is an infectious game that gets us places in no time at all.

Great book. My daughter loves the monkeys and the drums in the book. We read it while beating our imaginery drum and she learns what she can do with her hands, fingers and thumbs. Love all the Dr Seuss books.

I love this book, possibly more than my daughter. It reads with a rhythmic beat like a drum. My daughters music teacher recommended it when she was very little and we still read it now that she's five and we know it by heart. A great gift. Highly recommended.

Children will love this book time and time and time again!!!!
Dr Suess has done it again with an amazing story which will entralled children and keep their interest. The bright illustrations help to enhance the plot of the book and children will love this over the years, particularly through their toddlerhood.
It will also help them develop their reading skills for later years. New readers will lvoe reading this aloud.

i read this to my baby niece the other day, and she loved it. not to mention the fact that i loved it to. dr suses has been with us for soooo so so many years. and it would be a shame if he wasnt with us forever, because that is what he deserves. the storys will never be dated as hopefully we will all still have hands, fingers and thumbs.
