If you enjoy the paranormal genre and strong tough sassy female leads you will really enjoy it. But be warned this is the first in about 16 books and its a series you can get lost in and wont be able to put down. If you loved true blood, you will adore Anita Blake. Its been described as an R rated Buffy and its true.

Hamilton's writing took me a chapter to get used to, its short and sharp sentences, were at first, a little hard to read. However, after a chapter I had settled into what turned out to be an amazing story. I was hooked on the characters and found I couldn't turn the pages fast enough, I just had to know what happened next.
Introducing the reader to a world, like our own, yet so different. Vampires are legal citizens, the creatures from fairy tales exist and Anita Blake raises the dead for a living. Head-strong, independent with a touch of wit and arrogance Anita is a strong female heroine who women can relate.
Guilty Pleasures packs a punch, still one of the best in the series.

So i knew nothing about the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series, but though why not give them a go. I am so glad i did, awesome read, totally action packed and exciting, you never know quite what to expect from Anita, shes got balls for a girl but is also girly enough for us females to relate too. Plenty of Vampire, zombie, wearwolf type action along with the blood and guns. You certainly wont be dissapointed in this series :)

What really makes Hamiltons books is her characters, it doesn't matter what they are Vampire, Human, Shapeshifter and any mix of those and more, it's how they relate to the world Hamilton has built for them and the relationships they have between each other.
I have almost read every book in the series and I am still as hooked as when I first started. I just want more more more !!!
Her books are all so completely separate from each other yet also completely connected. Hamilton doesn't spend all her time on Anita either, certain books are focused on building other characters as well. I guess it's a lot like real life in that sense you slowly get to know people better some are only there for a short time and others stick around for good.
Hamiltons books have a little bit of every genre to them, although I have to admit the thrillermystery & Eroticism is what really draws me in. Some fans don't like the amount of sex in her books, but I don't find it overwhelming and it doesn't seem to be superfluous.
Please, Please give this book a go and read them in order you will not be disappointed !

The first book in Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series. This book is a great read. Short and to the point it is an introduction to the world of Vampires, Animating and other-worldly creatures that Anita lives in. In a bizarre story-line, vampires are legal beings and do not have to hide themselves from the world which is a refreshing change for any vampire lovers out there. This series should be read in order to best experience Anita Blake.

A great start to the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series, with a fascinating world populated by vampires, werecreatures and everything else out of mythology, with a great butt-kicking heroine and an awesome cast of characters. Really draws you in and leaves you hungry for more.

The first in an ongoing series following Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter and Necromancer. There are Werecreatures, Vampires, Demons and its sexy as hell! Laurell K Hamilton creates a surprisingly believable world where the things that go bump in the night exist, she even goes so far as creating a politcal climate with legal and moral issues concerning things such as Vampire citizenship. Guilty Pleasures is a heedy mix of Action, Horror, Mystery and Romance that is really hard to put down

From the very first page,Hamilton draws you into the irresistable sensual world of her deadly vampire hunter Anita Blake and never lets go. Every character is richly drawn and the excitement never lets up.
I could not recommend it highly enough for all readers of this genre.
