For a classical book, The Great Gatsby is very easy to understand. The Great Gatsby is rife with symbolism and meaning. The characters are very interesting, even the rude ones you hate, like Tom. The Characters and the relationships between the characters is kind of brilliant in the way that their relationships are worked through the plot. It's definitely worth a read.
