Fascinating trivia about America's Civil War. For example, the youngest general officer of the war was Brevet Major-General Galusha Pennypacker of the Union. Born on June 1, 1844, Pennypacker was only 17 at the outset of the war. He remained too young to vote until the war's end. And many, many more wonderful and thought-provoking factual tidbits.

If you have seen Ken Burns series "the Civil War" do not waste your time with this book.
Basically everything in it has been stated in the series , usually by Shelby Foote and many of these tidbits can be found through his various writings.
Whilst it was interesting to review some of the trivia in the book there was no surprises and most of it would be common knowledge to anyone with a passing interest in the civil war.
Probably the best parts of the book is that after it presents some trivia about a place of significance or battle it gives directions and contact details for those interested in following up further information.
My understanding is that this book was written as a fund raising exercise for a Historical Society and for that it is a reasonable endeavor.
