If you have a kid's birthday cake to make, and you want to make something a little different, maybe a little pretty for a girl, or yucky for a boy, then this is a very good book to have. The designs are simpler than they appear. And certainly more interesting than a simple round or square cake with coloured icing! There are very clear instructions and multiple step-by-step pictures accompanying each cake. Note though, that come of the gruesome cakes, may be a little too scary, even for adults. For example there is a cake with bloody eyeballs all over it. Good for halloween perhaps, not so appropriate for a birthday.
