I first read this book in primary school and upon re reading it 10 years later, I found it just as enjoyable as when I read it the first time. It is a very moving story about a young English boy during World War Two who is evacuated to the country and placed in the care of a reclusive older gentlemen. The story of these two unlikely characters and their journey together is one which will warm your heart. It is a very well written story and I would highly recommend it to anyone aged 12 and over.
