I purchased this book on behalf of a client who was delighted with owning her own copy which she had previously borrowed from our library. She is an ardent Heyer fan and can now relish all the background material from this most informative book on the Regency period.
When I first started to read this through book, I had little anticipation of learning much or really enjoying it to the same extent as one does when one sits down for a cosy read of Heyer's delicious novels. However I found it better as I read further and learnt more of this fascinating era.
It is well researched and was surprised to learn the author is an Aussie, (from Melbourne!) who like many of us is an Anglophile and deeply enamoured of all things English. Well worth the read for clearer perspective on this era.
