I think this book will be of great value to three different types of people: men who in the back of their mind would wish that they could (at least attempt to) pick up any woman they want, also to women who would like to understand more about why many men can be only interested in sex and validation through shallow sexual encounters, and women who want to learn how to tell if a guy is just trying to manipulate and charm you into bed.

It follows Niel Strauss' journey into the pick-up artist community from his joining, right up to his trip to "guru" status. It talks you through his experiences, his many meetings with different pick-up gurus, and his many experiences on outings trying to "sarge" (pick-up).

I found it a highly captivating read, particularly by how it shocked me that using a few sets of principles and saying the right thing at the right time, you could be very successful in getting women to at least give you their number, if not get into bed with you. It is half game, and half downright manipulation, that takes a long time of practice to master. Yes, practice at techniques, not just practice at learning how to be yourself and be natural.

There are ridiculous things such as "openers", pre-scripted and memorised things to say to women when you first talk to them, when you might want to kiss them, when they change their mind about having sex with you at the last minute. It really is a serious of manipulation steps. There was only one pick-up artist in the whole book who truly did it just because he enjoyed sharing intimate moments with women (not just sexually intimate) by being himself, being comfortable with himself, and being a good communicator.

If you are intrigued, and if you are a young man who even slightly wishes he could be a modern day James Bond, it will open you eyes to the fact - people are only human.

An amazing inside view of the people who specialise in the hard part of starting a relationship; meeting or approaching that special someone. Neil Strauss takes through his journey of how he got this part of his life sorted and the pros and cons that comes along with them. The only negative thign about the book is to get your self around to understanding the lingo the "pickup artists" use. Great read.

Only halfway through the book, but very absorbing with plenty of ideas to test out. So much of the strategies make sense once they are provided to you in a practical sense. A must read!!

This books has changed my life immensely, it not only corrected some of the bitter beliefs i had about women but it showed me that men don't need money, cars or looks to get the girls, all you need is to behave in a way that is attractive. i dont need to act like someone else, i can just be myself but be attractive at the same time

some people might say this book promotes manipulation, but it doesn't it teaches your "average joe" that he can have the relationships that he wants if he learns to socialize effectively.

comedians have pre-rehearsed routines- does that make THEM manipulators? because it is exactly the same thing!

this is an amazing and eye-opening read that i would suggest to any man looking for advice on how to find that special someone =D
