I first picked up this book when I was hurrying to grab some books from the library for a holiday. On reading the back at home I thought that this was not for me but I did read it and to my surprise, loved it.
I usually don't like first person narrative but it really works in this book. You are quickly drawn into Riley's world and her issues. She is very relatable and you sense her drive for a future she wants and the reality that she needs to accept and navigate. There is a lot of sex but strangely it is so part of the character it doesn't seem overly intrusive. I finished the book loving the character and wanting to know her more, while enjoying the fast paced action and multi-layered plot lines.
Keri Arthur writes with great empathy and while the setting is futuristic and paranormal the personal issues and dreams of her characters are those universal to us all. I particularly like that Arthur’s writing is able to lightly brush personal, social and political issues occasionally from her characters perspectives and offers the reader an opportunity think and feel for themselves.

I loved it. I'm not really into warewolves and vampire novels but Keri Arthur's style of writing draws you in and I found myself unable to put the book down. I have since read the following novels in the series and am eagerly awaiting her latest Riley Jensen novel and in the meantime I have started on one of her other series which is promising to be just as engaging and action filled!

This is the first book in a series about a sexy half werewolf, half vampire female who is virtually in perpetual heat and has several men more than willing to aid her.
Amidst all the sex, she becomes a reluctant heroine when her brother disappears, and she must be the one to find him. With betrayal and suspicion on all sides...who can she trust?
Full of action, intrigue and passion, fans of Laurell K. Hamilton's later Anita Blake books will love this series.

When I read the synopsis for this book, I was intrigued. Half wolf, half vampire chick – interesting! The pace was slow at first but it picked up. By the end of the book, I was hooked! Riley Jenson sounds like a hot, sexy wolf/vampire but the guys she meets, are even hotter and sexier! There's humour, action, drama, romance, supernatural beings - my kind of story. Keri Arthur is a great writer! I'm so glad to have read the first one in the series and can't wait for the next one.
