Easy to read book about coping with stress using mindfulness meditation. Principles are sound and easy to apply. If you are feeling anxious and you want some simple ways of learning to handle this then definitely worth a look. Although written a few years ago the techniques are timeless.

Jon Kabat-Zinn has an easy writing style which feels as if he is talking to you. So, although some of the concepts that he is dealing with are complex he discusses them simply and easily with the reader. A fantastic tool for all sorts of occasions so it is good to have beside the bed as it can be 'dipped into' for all sorts of things. A wise man who speaks with some experience. I heartily recommend the book and the positive manner that it is written in.

A fantastic, in depth look at Mindfulness meditation.
It is quite a complex read however, is very easy to understand.
I read parts of it and then put it down - it's not a 'read in one session' type of book as you need to absorb the information.
Very pleased with my purchase.

This was the first book I read by JKZ and I still use it as a text today when I teach the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction. This book describes the powerful group of techniques the author put together in a sequential framework that are life changing for many people who complete the course.
The book describes the program as it was developed at the Massachusetts General Hospital Pain Reduction Clinic, where the author uses a combination a "full body scan" meditation (lying down and learning to pay attention to different parts of the body), yoga, mindfulness meditation, and to assist people with serious, stress-related illnesses such as heart disease, back pain, migraines and cancer.
The book includes instructions on how to do the above as well as some analytical information on how well this program works. It includes the types of conditions participants had and some general conclusions that the very JKZ drew from his work. This book has some solid and practical advice on working with life issues in such a way as to remain sane, become more resilient and not become sicker from the condition you have.
I use this program regularly personally and now also teach it. A note – there is greater benefit in doing the program in a group as there are nuances which are often missed in just reading about something.
