In this book, Jutta Wiemers describes 100 'smart' games through which you can achieve a perfect partnership with your horse. The games are progressive and range from simple leading and lungeing, through to circus tricks (curtseying, kneeling, lying down or sitting on command, Spanish walk, and even the Hungarian post). Along the way there are other fun-packed games involving balance, sure-footedness, agility and confidence building. All the proposed games are beneficial to the horse - they will keep his body healthy, while his mind is stimulated. The training suggested is sometimes ambitious but always playful, and performed entirely without pressure. Hundreds of illustrations (drawn by the author) clarify the sequence of training steps and detail the required body language of the trainer. Training your horse with these games will open a gate to your horse's soul and change your relationship with him forever. For his part, your horse will become self-confident, happy and very dependable.

Jutta Wiemers is an architect and loves to draw. She has also been an equestrian vaulting trainer for decades and has published instructional videos and two books on the subject. She lives in Vancouver, Canada.

Great book, looks like a lot of fun to try and would benefit all horse owners who want to do more than just ride their horse. As the description states there are over 100 games to play with your horse from the ground and in saddle including circus tricks and also has allowances to work all of your horses at once, as a team (you do need a helper for this along with some of the other tricks). Each game has illustrations which helps and everything is explained well however I do feel it is best suited to an intermediate level handler as some of the tricks are not for the fainthearted (i.e. sitting on your horses abdomen while it is lying on its back, or rearing up on command).
I was impressed with the straight to the point instructions and I can see how the games in this book could create a very willing and trusting horse. I believe that whoever uses these games in their training and has the patience will see great results. The method is a cross between Pat Parelli and modern training techniques and would suit all age horses and ponies, fully broken to green.
Not a book for the unfit, veteran rider or unadventurous amongst us!
It certainly does have 100 training games your horse will want to play - but I am not sure about the average rider wanting to play them.
It is a quite large book 374 pps, and I purchased it believing it to be about training your horse 'tricks' but then I discovered a 'twist' to it. I certainly liked the idea of the 100 games being progressive, but then noticed that starting at lesson 7 it became out of the ordinary in as much as it involved riding bareback on one horse, leading another in front and bringing up one behind all in single file. In a coloured central section of the book there is a picture of a person 'hand-standing' alongside a 'ground tied horse'. Now I wouldn't recommend this especially if you are working alone and not perhaps under 21.
I am also not sure about 'letting the horse lunge you" and lunging three horses around barrels is far too much for the average rider as there is an element of taking on too much with this exercise. From here on there are several exercises involving three horses, including standing up on the horses back and driving one in front at the same time, etc.
Although some of the exercises can be undertaken by average riders, and the author has been quite detailed in her work -
leave this one to the CIRCUS TRAINERS who will no doubt find it a very useful manual and enjoy the real meaning of "Liberty".
