I'm a woman in my early 40s, so not the usual demographic for this book, but it was still brilliant for me. I bought this a few year's ago just to get fit. I found the menus and diet sheets very useful, and progressed from the 'desk driver' through to the 'semi-pro' programmes. It has a very easy to follow exercise schedule of cycling/running/swimming and weights, incorporating any other sport you want. I didn't especially use the army exercises e.g. bergen training, but gave the book to my nephew who used it to get into the Canadian Air Force.
All in all, I lost 2 stones over the summer and felt very good. You really do see and feel the difference as you become leaner and fitter.
I think you need to watch your knees though, with all the running, if you are over 30, but it's easy to swap running for cycling or swimming and still maintain your fitness. A really good book.

complete is an accurate description, this hand book starts right at the basics from training gear to how to do the core exercises of the program. caters well for all starting points from the desk driver to the very physically fit.
Adrian has a very relaxed writing style that has you chuckling at his descriptions of things. This is a no nonsense book for what ever yous starting level.

This book contains some excellent ideas for exercises for the committed fitness and outdoor exercise enthusiast. I've found a few suggestions in this book that are against modern sport science but nothing significantly harmful. Don't bother getting this if you are not highly motivated.

This ia very good book both for regular fitness and military fitness preperation ( whole different ball game). While you get the regular lot of body weight and weighted exercises what really makes this book stand out is the attention on bergen training for those who want into the military and on the combination exercises (one called the beast, which is challengeing even of you are very fit already).
Recommended.
