This is a longer version of "The Hand Guide to the Birds of New Zealand". (It is around 10-15$ more than the "Hand Guide".) Only the first part of the book appears in the "Hand Guide". The further information of each bird is provided. Personally, since it is heavier, it is suitable for checking or reference at home after the field trip, rather carrying with you while walking or hiking. I don't think it is the book for all bird watchers (particularly the beginers). Only if you are serious bird watchers (who want to know details about birds), don't have habits of taking a bird guide with you in the field trip, and you only want to buy only one book about New Zealand birds, this book is for you.

The Field Guide To The Birds Of New Zealand is simply beautiful. It has the most gorgeous drawings and it has very good, factual information on these amazing creatures that reside in New Zealand. I would recommend it to any bird lover, New Zealand resident or even for someone to read it in general. It is worth the money.
