Emma is 30, single and frankly desperate. She woke up this morning with nothing to look forward to but another evening of unsuccessful speed-dating. But now she has a new weapon in her quest for Mr Right. And it's made her almost perfect. Gwen Cooper woke up this morning expecting the unexpected. As usual. She went to work and found a skeleton at a table for two and a colleague in a surprisingly glamorous dress. Perfect. Ianto Jones woke up this morning with no memory of last night. He went to work, where he caused amusement, suspicion and a little bit of jealousy. Because Ianto Jones woke up this morning in the body of a woman. And he's looking just about perfect. And Jack Harkness has always had his doubts about Perfection. Featuring "Captain Jack Harkness" as played by John Barrowman, with Gwen Cooper, Owen Harper, Toshiko Sato and Ianto Jones as played by Eve Myles, Burn Gorman, Naoki Mori and Gareth David-Lloyd, in the hit series created by Russell T. Davies for BBC Television.

great story line, helps readers and watches of Torchwood see i knew side of Ianto.
The writing style of the novel leaves much to be desired with the chopping and changing of the chapter segments and can be slightly confussing as to the intent of each piece. However it does follow a straight time line so as you read more you start to understand where the story is going and where each character is coming from.
Set just after the events at the end of season 2 of torchwood, major spoilers for those who have not watched it.
As has been noted far and wide on the internet, the summary of this novel sounds like a bad fanfiction premise. Thankfully the subject matter is dealt with in a slightly more sensitive manner. The dialogue is often funny, the chapter titles are hilarious and some sequences are great. I felt that this didn't compensate for out of character behaviour by Ianto in particular, nor for some of the oddly misogynistic statements characters make. Gwen is also far more aggravating in this novel than she has been in Season Two of the TV series. Peppered with pop-culture references, it is hard to see this novel dating with dignity but it is relevant right now.
That said, it is a fun read. There are some lovely sequences with Rhys, some well-drawn original characters and some snappy remarks. If you want something light but still Torchwood, go for it. Warning - if you have not seen the end of Season Two (or do not know what happens at the end of Season Two), I recommend that you take the time to find out before reading this novel, or else you are in for a massive spoiler!
