This extraordinary, magical novel is the story of Clare and Henry who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six, and were married when Clare was twenty-two and Henry thirty. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself pulled suddenly into his past or future. His disappearances are spontaneous and his experiences are alternately harrowing and amusing. The Time Traveler's Wife depicts the effects of time travel on Henry and Clare's passionate love for each other with grace and humour. Their struggle to lead normal lives in the face of a force they can neither prevent nor control is intensely moving and entirely unforgettable.

Definitley one of the best books I have read. As someone who would love to believe in time travel and yet knows this is not possible, this book almost had me believing it might just be true. The characters are well rounded, the story entertaining and a generally "unputdownable" book.
Such a hard book to finish as I didn't want it to end. So now the hunt is on for other great authors. Came across Pierre Peju who wrote The Girl from the Chartreuse, I bought it because on the cover they quote Audrey Niffenegger as saying "A beautiful and moving book. I enjoyed it very much." Proved to be an excellent recommendation from this remarkable author.
Fantastic book!
It will stay with you long after you've finished the last page. This is an original and very unique story, where the science fiction elements (very interesting and well done in themselves) are really secondary to a beautiful and moving love story between Henry and Clare.
I highly recommend this novel to anyone who loves great fiction. The characters are all very real and the story is riveting.
This book is in my all time top ten favourites, I hope we see more great things from this author.
This is the only book that has ever made me cry. [ with the exception of Harry Potter :) ]
Truly genius book. The abstract concept first appealed to me and persuaded me to purchase it. Upon reading it, the persuasive writing made me believe that this story was somewhat realistic in its own way. It is such a sweet story. The different perspectives through differences in time periods truly make you wonder about fate, and destiny. The ending is superb although you cant help but wonder.. 'what if..'
What can I say that hasn't already been said about this book? It's truly a fantastic read. Very clever and entertaining. the title makes it sound science fiction but it is actually a love story that spans the ages, literally. Don't delay, put this one on the top of your 'to read' list.
One of the best books I have read, and re-read, and re-read…. In a long time! Niffenegger has such a remarkable and individual style, and although I constantly found myself returning to the start of each chapter to discover where in time I was reading, this didn’t detract at all from the story. Not much can make me cry, but “The Time Travelers Wife” did it. A truly unique and enjoyable book – “Feel good story of the year”!
I found this a great read, despite being a bit hard to get into intially. But by the time I was half way through couldn't put it down. Recommended by my sister, I'm glad I bought and read it.
An interesting story, takes a little while to get your head around the time sequencing, though after about 10 pages you get into the swing of it. As usual the book is far better than the movie. An enjoyable read even if the concept of time travel does not appeal.
There aren't many books that I just have to keep reading to find out what happens. Despite my awful habit of reading the back page very early one, I still could not figure how this one was going to end. The love theme is achingly tender, the situations sometimes hilarious and the whole situation so impossible that it seems entirely plausible. Great chic lit and I thoroughly recommend it
