I love this book - it's a systematic theology, but it doesn't really read like one (e.g. Thiessen, Berkhof, Strong). His central motif is the Trinity - an approach that is more popular in recent times. Migliore has a wonderful way of writing, and in his hands every one of the major doctrines of the Christian faith is revealed as intensely relevant for today.

In his treatment of the Authority of Scripture, he considers the problem of authority in modern culture. In his discussion on Creation, we look at ecological issues. In looking at the Providence of God and the mystery of Evil, Migliore provides an excellent overview of clasical Christian approaches to the issue of theodicy, and conisders positive and negative features of each. In his treatment of the Cross, he considers the issue of violence in relation to the atonement. In his section on the Holy Spirit, Migliore raises a number of issues and areas where a biblical understanding of the Holy Spirit would be beneficial - and it's brilliant. In his new section"Confessing Jesus Christ in Context", he touches on a range of two-thirds world and liberation Christologies (albeit with an American flavour): Latin American Christology, African American Christology, Feminist, Womanist and Mujerista Christologies, Hispanic and Asian American Christologies, as well as considering the particular and the universal, the local and the global in Christology.

The work is theological, yet tinged with a pastoral concern and a concern for the world as a whole - not just the church. An excellent work, highly reccomended.
