From the author of the acclaimed Women of the Otherworld series comes an exciting new heroine whose most secret identity is both lucrative...and lethal. Regulars at Nadia's nature lodge don't ask what she does in the off-season. And that's a good thing. If she told them, she'd have to kill them. She's a hit woman for a Mafia family. Tough and self-sufficient, Nadia doesn't owe anyone any explanations. But that doesn't mean she always works alone. One of her contacts has recruited her in the hunt for a ruthlessly efficient serial killer cutting a swath of terror across the country. Kelley doesn't loss any of her skill in this book, very different from her ‘woman for the other world’ series. Gives you twists and turns that keep you turning the page, and wanting to know more about Nadia. Kelley has written about a strong and challenged female Nadia. Taking you on a journey that could happen to any of us if place in Nadia's spot. I am not going to ruin the plot line at all. A book about modern woman, in modern time dealing with issue that can be touchy to any females.
This is the first in a new series by Kelley Armstrong. Unlike her 'Otherworld' series, it does not contain any supernatural elements.
The main character is a professional hit woman. Although initially she is not a likable character, you begin to warm towards her over the course of the book.
I didn't like this as much as the Otherworld books, but I read it in a single sitting, and will certainly read the next in the series.
A good Kelley Armstrong book, however did not grab me immediatley like her otherworld series, but persevered as I love her 'other' works. Took me a bit longer to get into, but was worth the read in the end, as a first character novel it has to set a lot of ground work, so the next in the series can only get better. Give it a go.
