The Himalayan kingdom of Nepal is a trekker's dream, and Everest, the highest mountain on Earth, is a lure to all who love high, wild places. The fully updated fourth edition of this classic guide describes nine treks - with Everest as the focus - in the Solu-Khumbu region of Nepal, as well as a trek to Rongbuk and another from Kharta to the Kangshung Face, on the Tibetan side of Everest. Includes all the classic treks from Lukla (and Jiri) to Namche, and routes to Thame, Gokyo, Thangboche, Lobuche, Kala Pattar and Everest Base Camp and also the route in Tibet from Tingri to the North side and Rongbuk monastery/glacier. The author gives all the practical information the trekker needs in this challenging and most rewarding region, and reveals a genuine love and appreciation of this spectacular mountain land and its people. 9 treks in the Everest region fully described, with full background information on preparing for a trek, illustrated with inspiring photographs and colour sketch mapping. |
