This is an epoch-making essay/treatise that revolutionized the social sciences. In this essay Malthus proposed that population grows at a geometrical rate whereas food production increases at only arithmetic rate, creating a severe lag between the demand and supply of food in any region. He therefore proposed two kinds of checks to keep an eye of population growth: these were natural checks, and positive checks.
