When Eragon finds a polished stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself. Overnight his simple life is shattered and he is thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic and power. With only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds. Disgustingly unoriginal. Dry. Conventional. Verbose. Paolini has regurgitated what many great writers have slaved at for years. the fact that he was so young when this was written, and its basic structure of conventional fantasy (and nothing more), is testimony to the idea that this book is a transparent attempt to imitate paolini's childhood writers. If you're considering picking up this book, do some research on some of his inspirations before reconsidering.
this is a great book, I have just finnished reading it and i enjoyed it so much that i just couldn't put it down unless i had other things to do or fall asleep reading. i hope that whoever reads this book enjoys it as much as i have. Now im just waiting to get the second book and continue the story,
On the edge of your seat, suspenseful, with mind blowing twist and turn this book is well worth a read for any avid reader… No collection is complete without this title amongst it and one you read into the first few pages you will not be able to put it down. 5 stars!!!!!
I read Eragon after viewing the movie at the theatre and the quality of the story is uncomparible. The book is such a delight to read after seeing the movie which I also found good. This book has a great story line containing mystery, happiness at times, sad parts and lust. It starts with a lady elf being captured by a shade working for Galbotrix(the king of the lang Eragon lives on) but not before sending a mysterious stone to Eragon...
I don't read many fantasy books (except lord of the rings!) but I read this book over Christmas and really enjoyed it. Its a great fantasy world with lots of inventive detail and real characters...the typical hero quest but well written and quite original. It is a well-constructed plot with the characters evolving and growing as the quest/journey continues. I was completley hooked and very impressed with the quality of the work from a relativley young author. I deifinetly think adults as well as young adults can read this book.
eragon is a great book travel through a world of wonder and mystery and magic thids is a great book for all ages but highly reccomended for young adults good for all dragon lovers and those who aren't alike in this book you find meaning wisdom and words that will enlighten you
