Domitilla Dardi has a degree in Art History and a Ph.D. in the History and Criticism of Architecture however, recently her research interests have centred on the study of design history. Between 2003 and 2007 she taught History of Industrial Design and History of Contemporary Art at the Faculty of Architecture in Ascoli Piceno (UNICAM). Since 2007 she has been collaborating as a curator at the MAXXI-Architettura in Rome with a specific focus on design. Since 2007 she has taught History of Design for the three-year degree course as well as for the Master's degree at the European Institute of Design in Rome. Since December 2009 she has been a cultural delegate for the Lazio ADI.
This series of books reminds us of the beauty of practicality by presenting the search for it in a remarkable group of twentieth-century designers. Seeing any work superbly accomplished is interesting, often inspirational; to be given insights into the processes of such work is beguiling and salutary to those of us who make things.
