Reading this book was confronting and educational. It really does take you behind the scenes of the meat industry and give an insight into the horrors of farming animals. It is excellent for anyone concerned about eating meat, how animals are cared for and the impact of the animal industry on the planet and society. I did not give up meat after reading this but really became much more aware of animal rights issues. controversial, and well written

I really enjoyed this book. Such a compelling read and I know I'll re-visit it over the years. The author intersperses his own thoughtful opinions alongside very well researched facts and is not at all preachy. There are some gut-wrenching and devastating parts in this book, but they're honest and necessary.

Whilst Jonathan Safran Foer clearly is passionate about the message he wants to convey, I was not particularly impressed by [[ASIN:0316069906 Eating Animals]]. The writing has a rambling quality and I was also left wondering why the autobiographical accounts were included. This didn't add to the argument whatsoever.

In my opinion this could have been a much better and more powerful book. I was disappointed.
