This book is absolutely fantastic. I put it to test when my doctor diagnosed me with diabetes and heart risk. Within 3 weeks my bsl level is almost to normal level without drugs and I have lost about 5 kgs and lost 6 cm of my waist. At first it was difficult to follow the diet through as meat and fat were my favourites! But I had too give it a test to see if it works or it is medications for me. I used this book with Dr McDougall's program as well as both are similar.

Although I would prefer the Re*ders Di*est condensed version, this book should be purchased by everyone who knows someone struggling with diabetes. The short answer is that he claims that going to a Vegan (no meat, egg or dairy products.) will reverse a lot if not all of the Type Two diabetes symptoms. By attacking the problem at a cellular level, which Atkins type diets do not, the promise is that we need to get animal fats and animal protein OUT OF OUR MUSCLE CELLS. This fat evidently interferes with the insulin molecules ability to communicate within the cell asking the cells to "open" to the insulin. Animal fat within each cell prevents this communication which allows the insulin to get in and release energy within the cell. Heaps of pretty convincing clinical tests and well documented data should convince most people to try this eating program for at least 90 days and then the personal experience should speak for itself in terms of reduced diabetes meds. He makes it clear the Type One diabetes is inherited and although complete reversal is unlikely, at least a reduction in symptoms and medication is very possible on this eating program. Lots of tasty alternatives and vegetable based comprehensive meal suggestions. Buy, beg, borrow or steal this book but prefereably BUY it even if you havce to pay a hundred dollars for it I believe you will find it the very best investment in you diabetes care arsenal. Try it for ninety days, then evaluate your condition. The proof is always in the eating!
