As he sets out for the store, the boy's mother reminds him, "Six farm eggs, a cake for tea, a pound of pears, and don't forget the bacon." On his way, he repeats, "Six fat legs...a cape for me...a flight of stairs...and don't forget the bacon." Or was it "six clothes pegs...a rake for leaves...a pile of chairs...and don't forget the bacon"? Well, at least he was sure to remember the bacon

What a great repetitive book! Great illustrations! For anyone who has ever forgotten anything. This book would appeal to three to five year olds most, but is appropriate for two to seven year olds. A classic children's book that should be in every child's home library, by much loved author Pat Hutchins.
A fantastic story for children who have begun to understand a “play on words” and recognise rhyming words also. As the little boy walks to the shops he faces many distractions and the words in his head start to get muddled until by the time he arrives at his destination, the only words he can clearly remember are “don’t forget the bacon”
A fun story which will have the children who hear it, not only laughing but, keen to try their own funny rhymes.
