Gr 7-10-Alyssa Bresnahan's narration of Lurlene McDaniel's popular novel (Bantam, 1995) is perfect for those girls who can't get enough heart-breaking teenage love stories. Julie and Luke, who have been dating since sixth grade, are looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together. However, their future becomes uncertain when Luke learns that he is suffering from a rare type of cancer. While remaining true to the author's style, Bresnahan's verbal interpretation of this teenage tragedy accurately portrays all the angst, fraught with the full gamut of emotions. Voice variations combined with good audio quality make the characters easily distinguishable. Instructions to fast-forward the tape to the end before turning it over eliminates the frustration of beginning in the middle of a conversation. For those using the Accelerated Reader program, this is a title included in the test set Young Adult XV, Set H-39. This is a good choice for middle and high school collections.-Lynda Short, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Lexington, KY Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.

this was another fairly sad book by this author. it was a good lesson to all, as it tells of how quickly you must get help if there is something wrong with you. the couples love in here was really an inspiration, as they were willing to fight the illness together, and let their love stand strong, where some people just give up. excellent read.
