Reviews

Praise for "Doggy Loves Christmas" "Simply Charming" "Doggy Celebrates Christmas" is the latest in a series of books by Jayne Flaagan which chronicles the adventures of Ella the dog throughout life's milestones. I have enjoyed reading many of her other books and this book is no exception. Flaagan has succeeded once again in integrating the teaching of developmental vocabulary, comprehension skills, math shapes, and an introduction to cultural traditions for preschoolers into a rich photographic essay. In the story, Ella's family is preparing for Christmas by setting up the Christmas tree, crèche, and baking cookies. Flaagan incorporates cognitive thinking skills on many pages, while enabling parents or teachers to foster a dialogue with youngsters about their own family traditions. I highly recommend this book for parents to introduce young children to holiday traditions. The Ella the Doggy book series is a wonderful addition to any home library! Vava C. Schroeder, M. Ed.
