I am writing this review from the perspective of an experienced photographer who is preparing for his first wedding job.
The best aspect about this book were the middle chapters that discuss the various events that occur on the wedding day, and more importantly, the unique issues and difficulties a Photographer is likely to face on those days. This is the highlight of the book in my opinion. Obviously it doesn't cover everything and is certainly not a full encyclopedia on what a photographer faces in a wedding photography job (which can't be expected in any book), but I feel that it gave me some very good points regardless.
I found most of general Gear and Workflow and Tech tips in the book to be incomplete and obsolete. Sections on a photographer's gear and technology is a good idea however the section is not very comprehensive as a whole, and strangely devotes space to certain products by certain vendors, which just made it seem a bit like an advertising brochure in certain sections. I just thought those sections were not very well thought out and need to be refined.
All things considered, I recommend this book. It isn't a one stop solution, but it is definitely worth a read. I'd say this book is most suited to the Beginner-Intermediate market.
A very useful book which includes a lot of info on the business side of photography and photoshop skills .
I learned quite a bit extra about using flash outdoors and the different flash settings for different light outdoors .
I would recommend it [ along with "Understanding exposure" ] for anyone wanting to learn more about photography .
It was mostly about wedding photography and did not include all the basics of photography itself but still worth a read .
This book is a fantastic book for anyone already in or wanting to get into wedding photography. Even though it caters for the digital aspect - anyone with a film camera could also follow quite easily. It provides helpful hints and ideas and also uses photos to illustrate these ideas. It is very comprehensive and covers all sorts of things from the business side of things right through to taking the photos, posing ideas and techniques etc. It is also very easy to understand. It was very helpful :)
A good overview of wedding photography today.
Aimed at photographers wanting to get into the wedding market.
Glen covers the issues that can arise at weddings in a constructive way.
technology changes so quickly, that I would not get hung up about the various products shown in this book, take this info as a guideline to go from.
