DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER: Dexter Morgan can't stand the sight of blood. Which makes his job as a blood spatter analyst for the Miami PD a little tricky. But it means that he's very tidy when it comes to his hobby: murder. After all, even though Dexter only ever kills bad people, he doesn't want to draw attention to it. But now there's another killer out there who's being a whole lot less subtle' DEARLY DEVOTED DEXTER: Miami's best-dressed serial killer is getting twitchy - he hasn't killed for months. Ever since their paths first crossed, Sergeant Doakes hasn't let Dexter Morgan out of his sight. Then a body turns up, mutilated and barely alive. To trap the torturer, Doakes and Dexter will have to work together, if they can trust each other. It's a devil's pact and one of them will have to be the bait...DEXTER IN THE DARK: When Dexter is brought in to analyse a charred headless corpse, it seems he's dealing with a killer even more sinister than he is, and one with a personal interest in him. And with Dexter now having a wedding to plan and a family to protect, the stakes are high. As he realises his step-children might share his blood-lust, if he's ever to help them target it, Dexter will first have to stay alive himself.

Prizes

DEXTER has gone stratospheric. Now reaching audiences of 20 million plus on US TV, it hits terrestrial TV in the UK in Feb 08 on ITV. This is the perfect way to turn viewers into readers of the series. The glowing reviews for the TV pick up the same qualities that make the books so compelling - macabre, gripping and with a unique voice. Dexter is one of the most fascinating and darkly funny (anti)heroes around. 'Dexter has a way of getting under your skin' GUARDIAN 'Fascinating, entertaining, and brilliant. Let Jeff Lindsay introduce you to the serial killer next door - Dexter (and his Dark Passenger) are the freshest, most terrifying creations you are ever likely to meet ... and live to tell about.' Robert Crais

5 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 02/02/2009

Have enjoyed every page. First book follows the first season quite well however book two and three do not - so it is like a double dose of Dexter. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves the series on TV.

I can not wait until the fourth book comes out.

The dexter book series is the best damn books i have ever read!
with the black humor and clever story line, the dexter novels will have you coming back for more, more and MORE!
and then when your done reading, you'll want to watch the TV series next.
But seriously this is a must have for dexter fans and book lovers.
5 out of 5 and i wish i could give it more.

3 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 06/05/2010

I love the TV series, so when someone gave me this book I was really looking forward to reading it. However, I found that I much prefer the series to the books. The author seems to have found out that there's this thing called alliteration and applies it to every single paragraph. If you take a look at the titles it'll give you an idea of what to expect: "Darkly Dreaming Dexter", "Dearly Devoted Dexter", "Dexter in the Dark" - alliteration is used as a plot tool rather than as an occasional interest point. It gets really tiring, really quickly.

If you're a fan of the series don't expect the same quality of writing. Jeff Lindsay is nowhere near as accomplished as the TV script writers. I wouldn't recommend the books for serious fans of the TV series. The characters are two-dimensional and the plots, while interesting, aren't on the same level as the series. If you've never watched Dexter before then you may enjoy the books, but expect a lot of graphic violence.

Very surprising. I was so looking forward to reading the books as I absolutely love the tv show. The books are very short and I felt like I was reading an abridged copy or something. There wasn't much detail and the endings were so abrupt and unexpected (not in a good way). I guess it's always the way - when you have very high expectations and keenly anticipate something you are bound to end up disappointed..
