Have enjoyed every page. First book follows the first season quite well however book two and three do not - so it is like a double dose of Dexter. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves the series on TV.
I can not wait until the fourth book comes out.

The dexter book series is the best damn books i have ever read!
with the black humor and clever story line, the dexter novels will have you coming back for more, more and MORE!
and then when your done reading, you'll want to watch the TV series next.
But seriously this is a must have for dexter fans and book lovers.
5 out of 5 and i wish i could give it more.

I love the TV series, so when someone gave me this book I was really looking forward to reading it. However, I found that I much prefer the series to the books. The author seems to have found out that there's this thing called alliteration and applies it to every single paragraph. If you take a look at the titles it'll give you an idea of what to expect: "Darkly Dreaming Dexter", "Dearly Devoted Dexter", "Dexter in the Dark" - alliteration is used as a plot tool rather than as an occasional interest point. It gets really tiring, really quickly.
If you're a fan of the series don't expect the same quality of writing. Jeff Lindsay is nowhere near as accomplished as the TV script writers. I wouldn't recommend the books for serious fans of the TV series. The characters are two-dimensional and the plots, while interesting, aren't on the same level as the series. If you've never watched Dexter before then you may enjoy the books, but expect a lot of graphic violence.

Very surprising. I was so looking forward to reading the books as I absolutely love the tv show. The books are very short and I felt like I was reading an abridged copy or something. There wasn't much detail and the endings were so abrupt and unexpected (not in a good way). I guess it's always the way - when you have very high expectations and keenly anticipate something you are bound to end up disappointed..
