After 10 books and one collection of short stories, I'm left asking the question: "What happened to Sookie Stackhouse?"
Because I hate it when people give away valuable plotlines in reviews, I'll keep this one short but savage. Charlaine Harris created a brilliant heroine, one who was smart yet relatable. Competent, yet understandably wussy in some areas. Romantic, yet prosaic. Basically everything that would appeal to her key audience of women between 20 & 100.
Somewhere along the lines, it would also appear she just got sick of Miss Stackhouse.
Since about book 6, Sookie's ability to encounter misfortune has turned from tragedy to tragedy, warping the lead character to the point that its difficult to recognise her as the plucky telepath from the first few books.
In this book, Sookie has to deal with considerable trauma after the misadventures of the last, some complications with her now charisma-free relationship with Eric, and some family issues of her own. It reads like a formula, and I can't help but wonder if Charlaine Harris is now writing books that will simply translate well for further TV series, and if she'll leave anything good in Sookie before she writes the whole thing off as a great moneymaker and nothing more.
This book is still easy reading like the others, but I left feeling more than disappointed.

This was a really good read - once again, over too soon. A maturing relationship with Eric and Sookie that has moved on quite a bit from the last book. Bill makes his usual lovesick appearance, but in a very subdued manner and tangential to the main part of the story. Sookie is definately carrying baggage from the injuries received at the hands of the twins in the last book - not all physical. As is the case, there is still some unfinished business at the end to keep us hanging for the next installment. My only plea to Ms Harris would be to drop ANY reference to Debbie Pelt in future books unless it is absolutely integral to the story (and I'm not convinced that was the case in this book).

First I want to say that this was the first time I pre-ordered something from fishpond and I was expecting to receive it a bit later than those who would buy it from the stores but rather I received this in mid-may and I think most stores advertised it for a june release.
As for the book itself I have always enjoyed the sookie stakehouse series. This series is consistently a fun and enjoyable read. Though familiar this book still had me up late at night as we found out more about Claud, Eric, Hunter, Alcide and Bill. Again her book is filled with humour and Sookie's strong and feisty attitude. Recommend it for everyone who is a fan of this series.

What a let down. I have waited 12 long months for this book to hit the stands and it left me wanting. It doesn't answer any questions about Sookie and Erics relationship. To me it was a book to bridge the gap between the last and the three new books she has signed up for. What a disappointment. All the loose ends from the last book have been neatly tied off and pushed aside but no major issues where tackled. The book was set over a few months but nothing happened until the last night. I am a huge Sookie and Eric fan but this left me cold and unimpressed.

This book is as amazing as the whole series! It starts off where Dead & Gone left off and Sookie is continuing her relationship with Eric. She is alos recovering from her abuse from demented fairies Lochlan and Neave. I do not want to spoil the rest but Ill tell you that this is one of the best books in the series. READ IT!!

The latest book in the number 1 "New York Times"-bestselling series--the basis for HBO's "True Blood." After enduring torture and the loss of loved ones during the Faery War, Sookie is hurt and angry. Worst of all, there are still some Fae on the human side--and one of them is very angry at Sookie.

This book wasn't as good as the others, I hate it when Charlaine keeps reminding us about characters and events that have happened in previous books, We are up to book 10 so I think we know whats happened along the way. Still, the book was good, even though there wasn't much progression in the story. I wish Sookie and Eric would do alot more together, they are the best couple in these type of books and Eric is by far the best Vampire.

What can i say other than hmmmmmmmm....Eric. Another great Sookie story, starting to bring some of the story lines together which is appreciated. Charter development quite interesting, but still a little intrigue.
