Born in New York City and educated at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California, Irvine, SHAWN LEVY has been the film critic of The Oregonian since 1997. He is a former senior editor of American film and a former associate editor of Box Office. His work has appeared in major newspapers and magazines in the United States and England, including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, The Guardian, The Independent, Film Comment, Movieline, Premiere, and Sight and Sound. He maintains a blog about films and another about global soccer, as well as his own website, which has links to many of his writings. His fifth book, Paul Newman- A Life, was published by Harmony Books in May 2009 and appeared on the New York Times bestseller list.
