The great city is under siege by the armies of Horsekin led by the maddened goddess Alshranda. Alshrandra has gone slightly mad since her earlier introduction in the series. As the armies grows the tension does too, both the physcial armies grow as do the mystical powers. This stories interweaves those in the present focusing on Jill protecting the princess and her unborn babe as well as a few unexpected glimpses into the past. We meet the Raven and learn her story, the dark magic of women. We also learn to fight on dragons wing, Azorah relationship with Rhodry grows and the battle become heated. Katherine Kerr has made such an amazing books, her words and the timelines interwoven to make such memorable stories.
