This novel is fantastic. No, it doesn't have a high sensual content, but even if that's your favourite part of the paranormal genre you won't be disappointed in this book, not just because there is a deeply romantic storyline but because the characters are wonderful and the plot is big and bright and engrossing. Some background information if you haven’t read the introductory short story in the anthology ‘On the Prowl’: Anna was Changed against her will three years previous to this story, and her life has been hell every since. The Pack she was forced to join was run by the very worst of psychotic werewolf mates whose will should make all the other werewolves in the Pack submit automatically. Anna was the exception. She didn't have to sit when ordered to, and was almost destroyed by horrendous punishments. It wasn't until Charles Cornick, son and enforcer of the Marrock, the wolf to whom all Alphas answered, arrived at the Pack and realised what she was that Anna discovered she is an Omega, a rare being who need not obey Alpha commands and who has the ability to soothe the savage beast. She is also Charles' mate, a wonderful and terrifying thing since her experiences haven't left in her any desire to mate. Still, anything is better than staying with the Chicago Pack, and in 'Cry Wolf' Anna ends up with Charles and his father in Montana, trying to fit in with the Marrock's Pack of dysfunctional werewolves and helping Charles hunt a rogue through the snow covered mountains. This novel has three-dimensional characters, a plot that offers excitement and surprises, realistic romance given the whole werewolf background, and enough emotional angst to satisfy the people who enjoy it without annoying people like me who don't.

Great book. I have read all the Mercy series so far and this is an by story to those. Patricia Briggs writes great stories. I didn't realise with this book that there was a prequal. It is a short story which is published in a book of short stories by Patricia and other authors. Will get it when I have a chance. Her stories are almost impossible to put down.

Another good book from Patrica Briggs. If you enjoyed Mercy you will enjoy Cry wolf. What enjoyed the most was the way the characters were cleverly linked with the Mercy Thomson novels. Good novel to finish with after reading Mercy. Light reading but continued to be fast paced. Looking forward to the next installment.

Another excellent read by Patricia Briggs. Cry Wolf is the sequel to the short story Alpha and Omega in "On the Prowl" and runs adjacent to the Mercy Thompson series we all know and love. Cry Wolf follows the life of Anna an omega wolf mated to Charles, son of the Marrok. The book develops some of the more interesting characters from the Mercy Thompson series and has a great plot. Hard to put down.

Patricia Briggs hooked me with the Mercy Thompson books. This is set in the same world, but with a more romantic spin. Beautifully written it expands on her world where werewolves and witches live side by side with humans. Anna is an Omega, an alpha with no anger, who can calm a room and stand up to anyone in the pack. She is rare, and Charles, her mate, is unique as someone who was born a werewolf rather than made one.
Best read after the short story in "On the Prowl".
Well written, and definitely worth the read. I didn't put it down once.

Found this book to be as good as her Mercy thompson novels the only differenc is that the heroin in this story is reliant on the big strong hansome man who saves her from another pack. Very romantic.

Before reading this book, you should get "On the Prowl" which is a compilation of a few short stories from four different authors, one of which is the start to this book titled "Alpha & Omega" its only a few chapters of this book but Cry Wolf makes reference to these chapters in its storyline so you'll be left wondering what happened although Ana the character the book is based on, gives little hints as to what happened to help you follow.
After reading "Alpha & Omega - On the Prowl" I wanted more... I was intrigued to see where the story went & what happened with these characters. Although this book deals with the mythical & magic, it touches on betrayal, hurt, fragility, abuse, learning of trust, love & a hero which are situations we (us older ones) have had to experience at one point growing up. I really enjoyed Anna's journey learning to rise above the hard life she had been dealt & that her love interest was a perfect example of what most men should be today! The battles aren't too gruesome & love scenes aren't too raunchy but its suitable for young teens & touches upon subjects they are bound to come across at some point in their life.
So try by both books at the same time (at a bargain price). I never in all my life been a book worm until the past year so I couldn't get into the other stories but thats just me but its cheap & worth buying it for the start of Cry Wolf..

An intriguing twist on the werewolf genre, looking at the non alpha personality (though highly unusual omega). Briggs continues her capable writing creating an interesting world that draws you in. In this novel, it feels as if we are starting half way through and the relationship between Anna and Charles is still in its infancy. It is more a romance in the urban fantasy setting than adventure urban fantasy. Having said that if you are more into the romance twist than the thriller/adventure twist you will like it. I would read the next in the series, mainly in the hope of seeing Anna be more of an omega.
