what a great book. This is the honest true country cookbook that everyperson
should have in their kitchen. The recipes are tried and tested time after
time. Some would even remember the smell originating from the recipes.

I grew up with earlier versions of this book and it has always been a firm favourite for all the tried and tested classics. Everything from pancake batter, filling for tarts and the perfect roast, it's all here. The hard cover and spiral spine make it more hardy than the old paperback book Mum used to have!

I Love cook books, this is a very back to the basics cookbook, which doesn't have any photos, which is ok if you only want to have basic recipes.
It packed with hard working, practical recipes, this has been an essential cookbook in Australian kitchens for generations.
This book i will be using for many years to come as it has all the basics that i need, if i need something different something more than basic i can use another book.

I have an earlier edition of this cookbook that I received as a wedding gift 30 years ago and have found it to be one of the best cook books on my shelf and is constantly in use. I had no hesitation in purchasing one as a gift for my daughter recently who I know will find it equally as useful as I have over the past three decades. I highly recommend this book to all budding new cooks!!

A fantastic recipe book if you like cooking with basic ingredients you will generally find in most pantries. A must for those who like cooking hearty family meals from stratch.

This reminds me of my nans CWA cookbook that we used to cook together when I was a kid! Of course some of the recipes you wouldn't make due to dated and frankly untasteful to the palate ingredients but its really interesting to think how these women made use of what they had available at the time. I respect that they have stayed true to the original format and not hired a food stylist which means you can never recreate what you see pictured anyway. I won't be cooking braised ox tongue myself, but who knows what the future will bring....

Boring!
A lack-lustre presentation and no photos of any of the recipes.
