Gyula Moravcsik was a distinguished Byzantinologist best known for his monumental work on the historical sources on Byzantine relations with the Turks, Byzantinoturcica. Romilly J. H. Jenkins was Professor of Byzantine History and Literature at Harvard University and was Director of Byzantine Studies at Dumbarton Oaks. He edited and translated the letters of patriarch Nicholas I.
With the republication of this notable tenth-century treatise on
the statecraft by the Byzantine emperor Constantine
Porphyrogentius, Dumbarton Oaks has inaugurated a most welcome and
auspicious project of issuing revised and updated editions of major
Byzantine texts...The revised edition of the De Administrando
Imperio has been admirably accomplished.
