You'll never think of cats and mice the same way after reading this astonishing volume. Maus is an immensely affecting engagement with the Holocaust and its aftermath, the more so for being rendered (in searing blacks and whites) through the speech and action of cartoon animals. To be read - experienced - regularly.

An absolute work of art even for readers fro normally do not read comics/graphic novels. The story telling is so captivating that after the first chapter, the little mouse/cat/pig characters start having real personalities in your mind! A must read... or shall i say sight to behold...

I've never been the one for cartoons strips, but this book is amazing!
The way Art Spiegelman tells his fathers story in such an artistic way.
I've read it at least 5 times becasue There's no book in the world like it!

The Complete Maus brings together the entire series of Art Spiegelman's confronting graphic novel depiction of Nazi genocide. While dismissed by many due to its usage of animals to represent the victims and victimisers of genocide, it is exactly this cartoon depiction that almost strangely aids in the understanding of such a tragedy. Far from diminshing the victims of Nazi genocide, Maus seems instead to expose something raw and painful in the figures of the tortured mice on its pages.
