Anine Kriegler is a researcher with the Institute for Safety Governance in the Global South at the University of Cape Town. She holds Masters degrees from both UCT and Cambridge University, and is a Doctoral candidate in Criminology. Her research interests include the measurement of crime and victimisation, and drug markets. Mark Shaw is the Director of the Institute for Safety Governance in the Global South. He holds the NRF Chair in African Justice and Security and is the Director of the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime. He worked for 12 years at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. His research focuses on illicit markets and organised crime.
