Chinese painting is an art with an emphasis on showing the essence of the subject without losing it in the intricate detail. It is an artistic and cultural difference between Eastern and Western painting and can be tricky for a Western oriented student to grasp.
This book shows in stages how to create an image with minimal brushstrokes but more importantly show it in a way we can recognise and appreciate.
There are several books that are very good for the beginner to learn how to grind ink, mix it with water to different shades and basic brushstrokes but this one goes beyond that.
